Learn How To Meditate Properly

Learn how to meditate properly with the Dream Method. There are so many forms of meditation and I would say find the one that works best for you. The Dream Method covers 5 types of meditation. Before you go that deep though, what does the word meditation mean.

It is a word to describe an eastern concept that is complex to say the least. And there are a million and one videos and blogs all telling you how to meditate. Through my experience with this with my clients, when you get the wrong advise, this can turn you away from trying meditation. One of my clients said she could sit for 20 minutes silently but still felt stressed and anxious afterwards. This is not right.

Meditation In Todays World

Meditation can be like taking a hot bath or a sauna. You will feel some kind of relief, but you will not really get the point of meditation by doing this. So I would say this is the wrong way. Guided meditations online are all about guiding you. And yes, sometimes these can be very effective. But what is the point of meditation

Meditation is about getting a deeper connection with the inner you. That you inside that can be locked up with old emotions and feelings where you can’t express yourself. Most guided meditations online will not get you a deeper connection in my experience. I have a free mini course in this article you can try to get you started with meditation the right way. But first, lets look at why you should meditate regularly in the first place.

Why You Should Meditate

But first, lets look at why we should meditate. In this troubled world today, we are all feeling stressed and even anxious to a greater or lesser extent. We can notice this stress and anxiety affecting our personality in the way that we act irrationally or out of character sometimes. And when this feels like it gets too much, stress and anxiety feel like an enormous burden. We have all felt that.

What if I were to say that you do not need to have these burdens hindering your life! Does that sound good to you? Of course. With mindfulness and meditation, you can ‘Release the true you’. Free from stress and anxiety. Free to feel how life should feel.

So, let’s look into the nature of our reality a little deeper. The atoms in our body are made up from the belly of a star. What does that mean to you? It means ‘You are a  star’. It was Einstein who said ‘Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better’. But what does that mean to you?

Everything Runs In Cycles

Everything runs in cycles and we have our own circadian rhythm inside of our body, which is affected by many different aspects of our surroundings. And now more people are realising that ‘We are Nature’. We are connected to the natural world and we should embrace that fact. But scientific research also shows that we also need to connect inside of ourselves as well, which stimulates different parts of the brain, according to scientific research.

I bet your asking who is this man and what has he done? So here is my journey so far. I became a professional musician and my goals were to play a stadium gig. There I am at the millennium Stadium playing a gig. To get a record deal and release an album. There is the album Anahata released on a record label, and to tour with a band. All that I accomplished. Deep inside of me there was still something missing.

I was getting more stressed and anxious about my career and even more angry about the state of the world and I had to change something. The music business can feel prejudice to ageing musicians who are looking for deals, and this was weighing down on me heavily. The live performances were drying up and the money was now only flowing away from me. I became more difficult to be around because of my stress and anxiety.

Synchrony Happens In Your Life When You Need It

I was also beginning to have vivid memories of my past traumas where my parents died when I was very young, which increased the feelings of being abandoned and alone. This was leading me back to depression and I knew this was not really me. This place was not who I am. This was not the true me. I felt almost desperate as I felt the world closing in on me. And as soon as I put the intention out to heal this problem, a synchronistic path of events came along to help me find solutions to all of these problems.

When you learn how to meditate properly, synchronicity happens more frequently in your life. That is why you see so many people talking about how meditation changed their life for the better. It can look very daunting but really it is quite easy to learn to meditate properly when you use the simple steps I go into later.

Peter Paul Parker Learn meditation with the Dream Method

I took up the Korean practice of Dahn Yoga, where I learnt how to exercise my body mindfully and how to meditate. I needed an experienced teacher guiding me through my difficulties. It took me from a stressed and anxious human being to being an accomplished teacher of Meditation, mindfulness and Ki Gong in my local area. I have ran many workshops and classes seeing about 150 people a week. I also travelled to the Maldives to teach at a conference there. Here are a few testimonials of the people I have helped.

Organisations I Have Helped People Learn Meditation Through

This has led me to work with all these different organisations in my local area. Public health England. NHS. Care and Quality commission staff at the Royal Society. Kingston Council. Epsom Council. Runnymede council. MILAAP. Firscroft trust and the list goes on. This webinar is not about me though. It is 100% about you. So, I want to ask you this question. Are you going to take action today to release the true you?

My Preconceptions About Learning To Meditate

I remember when I was first asked that question and was offered a solution, I had many pre conceptions about the simplicity of how to fix these problems I was experiencing. Many negative thoughts crossed my mind that were rejecting the ideas given to me. I now know that it was the negative influences weighing me down which was stopping me trying something new.

All the heaviness and all the helpless feelings were crushing me. When I realised the benefits of what I was doing, I said to myself, and still do today, that this is the only thing I have to do right now, right here in this moment, and all these activities slowly became easier to do. I felt like the caterpillar turning into the butterfly. What we perceive to be a slow process, but worth the perseverance.

When you learn to meditate properly, you will see that all of these preconceptions will melt away.

Common Objections To Learning Meditation

Some of you may be having these same thoughts I had. Saying to yourself -What’s the point? It will make me emotionless. Boring. It is escapism. You need to be spiritual. It is selfish behaviour. It takes years. I can’t calm my mind. It is just a fancy word for relaxing. Does any of statements cross your mind at this point? They did mine when I first started practising meditation and mindfulness.

These are all preconceptions that have stopped us from trying meditation. For some reason there is a mysterious feeling around meditation and how it works. In saying that, millions of people around the world have transformed their lives with meditation and mindfulness. It is easier than you think.

So today you can try some ancient techniques at the Bright Beings Academy, now backed up with modern science, which will release the true you. Sounds great right. OK let’s break down some preconceptions I had, and you may well have about meditation and mindfulness.

Story Of The Stones

Let us go to the mountains of Korea, where the Sundo Master is teaching his students the ancient art of Sundo, one of the most ancient Korean forms of mindfulness. One student approaches the Master with a question. ‘Master, I want to learn how to meditate more deeply. Can you help me?’ The Master replied ‘Please show me how you meditate now.’ So the student sits in half lotus position with his legs crossed. He puts his hands into a classic mudra, which is a hand position, and then starts to breathe deeply.

While the student is doing this, the Master picks up two stones and starts rubbing them together. The sound starts to get really intense and the student has to speak up as the sound is beginning to hurt his ears. The student asks the Master ‘Why are you rubbing those two stones together?’ The Master replies ‘ I am trying to make a mirror.’ The student says ‘You will never make a mirror like that.’ The Master replies ‘You will never learn to meditate like that!’

How you meditate is personal to you so let’s find your best fit.

Have you ever considered this question?

What Do You Actually Want When Learning To Meditate?

What do you actually want? It is a question we need to answer honestly. Most people say money but that is just a means to an end. Some people say fame, but I realised I did not want that when I was recognised in a supermarket after a TV appearance. What do you actually want? Do you have a gnawing feeling in your gut that is telling you things aren’t right in your life at the moment?

Learning to trust your gut instincts is so important. Around 50 % of your dopamine, your joy hormone and 90 % of your serotonin, your happiness hormone is produced in your gut. Some say it is your second brain. So maybe your gut is asking you Do you want to be happy? Are you dealing with stress and anxiety effectively?

Are you going to release yourself from these burdens so your body can function properly? I am sure the answer is yes. Sincerely, I want this for you as I have felt deep suffering in my life. I was in a position that I needed to change. With some help on how to find a solution, I found all the answers inside of me. I want the same for you.

Some Real Truths About You

Now for some real truths about you. These concepts took time for me to really comprehend. So, don’t worry if these concepts feel a little strange. You will overcome those feelings as I did, which will help you find what you actually want. Opening the door to these deeper concepts is a wonderful journey, and really helps in your personal development to becoming the best version of yourself.

You are not your body

All the atoms in your body are different from when you were born.

You are not your mind

Your mind keeps changing.

You are not your thoughts

I am sure we all have had some pretty horrendous thoughts which are not us.

You are not your emotions

Your emotions can change from moment to moment.

So, what is common about all these aspects of you. They all change like the seasons.

What Is The Constant Inside Of You?

But something stays constant inside of you. Imagine yourself moving ever closer to the constant inside of you. Your true self, your true essence. Imagine finding inner peace in an ever increasing stressful and anxious world. To find this peace inside of you, you must give the 5 completely different, but doable meditation exercises 100%. We will be doing very short meditations using breathing, moving, guided, silent and sound in the webinar below. Are you up for this? Great stuff.

When you learn to meditate properly you will be in contact with the constant inside of you. You can do this and it is worth the perseverance.

What Is The Easiest Way To Learn Meditation?

Have you ever considered what is the easiest form of meditation to learn. Breathing. Yes, if you focus your mind on your breathing. You are meditating. What is important to realise about breathing deeply is that is takes us into our parasympathetic nervous state. That is the rest digest and heal state. When we are stressed and anxious, we are in the sympathetic nervous state – we are in fight or flight mode.

Here is a diagram showing the two different states. You can now see how difficult it can be for your body to function properly if you are forever in the fight or flight state. Studies performed on Tibetan Monks have shown because of their focus inside, their brains actually work differently. They are calmer and respond to situations rather than react. There is a big difference there.

Learn How To Meditate Properly With This FREE Online Mini Course

So, let’s try a very simple breathing exercise. Do your best to give this 100% focus and attention. I remember when I first started deep breathing meditations, I did not realise how this changes you into the rest, digest and heal state of your body, but worked it out through experience. You now have this knowledge and remember to do the exercise with the thought that this is the only thing you have to do in these next few moments.

All you need to do is breath in for four seconds, hold for four seconds, breathe out for four seconds and hold for four seconds. If you have time, do this right now before continuing with this article to see how you feel afterwards. This is the easiest way I found to learn to meditate.

Learn Deep Breathing Meditation To Stimulate Your Gut

Another important aspect of learning to meditate through deep breathing is that it stimulates your gut. As we age, most people begin to breath in a shallower manner. Let’s start to break that habit with by getting into a regular habit of breathing deeply.

Have you ever heard of Qi Gong? What came first, Qi Gong or Tai Chi. Qi Gong came before Tai Chi and is a healing art, unlike Tai Chi which is a martial art. Qi means energy and Gong means utilising well, so it is mindfully using the energy in the body to improve your health and wellbeing.

We now know that Qi Gong is scientifically proven with peer reviewed studies to alleviate the symptoms of stress and anxiety and increase longevity. That is to extend your life naturally. When setting up the charity Brighter Living, we had to convince the Charity Commission to accept Ki Gong as a health and wellbeing activity.

We did that with peer reviewed studies and we produced an impact report on the people in our local area over the course of a year who practiced with us, and the outcome of that report really did reflect the positive outcomes the scientific studies we sent to the charity commission. Take a look at the impact report by clicking the button below.

When I went to Korea I met many people who had been practising Qi Gong from a very early age. They had learnt to meditate properly and found any form of meditation much easier. It is never too late to start and I have seen amazing results with people who are now in their 80’s.

One of the most important aspects of learning to meditate properly is that you must be completely relaxed. Meditation is like a workout for your mind. Meditation is a workout for your body. Learn to use your mind for your benefit.

Your Mind Is A Powerful Tool But A Lousy Master

Another important aspect when considering your meditation practice is to use your imagination like you would as if you were a child again. We tend not to use our imagination when we get older, so let yourself go here, and really try to use your imagination. Your mind is a very powerful tool, and when used with your imagination, anything is possible. When I first started doing guided meditations, I was not using my imagination well. This is one of the big keys to doing this and a hurdle to overcome. You can do it.

Use your imagination like a child again when practicing Qi Gong

Silent Meditation Becomes Easier To Practice Once You Have Mastered Breathing Meditation

Silent meditation is really hard. Always remember the journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step. Silent meditation was impossible for me when I first started. My chatterbox mind really used to unsettle me. We call it a meditation practice because we have to practice it. Do not worry if this is hard at first. It is hard sometimes for even the most experienced meditator.

Using Sound As Another Practice To Learn To Meditate

Have you heard of the science of cymatics or even sound healing?

I have another question for you. Is there a connection between sound, vibration and our physical reality? Yes, there is a connection. Nicola Tesla once said ‘If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of sound, frequency and Vibration.’

Sound is basically waveforms, and the lower the frequency, the less the waveform is, the higher the frequency, the more waveform there is. Cymatics is the study of wave phenomena.

I have seen a few different frequencies being used directed at sand on a metal plate and this created a ball in the middle of the sand and little balls all circling the bigger ball, rather like a solar system. Absolutely incredible. Absolutely mind blowing.

Sound healing can help you learn to meditate

Sound Toning And Meditation

When I studied sound toning I loved it. Using my voice to bring my body back into resonance with itself was fascinating. I was not great at this at first, but did my best. Now I can feel movement in the area of the body I am focusing on, which is a very unusual feeling. If I can get there, you can too.
